2 big totes in the making

thanks to you all for giving me opinions on my quilt's problem! :) i still couldn't make up my mind in choosing the right combi of fabrics for the baby quilt... i need to find another in substitute for the red dots. eventhough i've got a variety of prints, mostly the cute-ness :P, it's very hard to find a good matching pair amongst them :/ and my best bet is with my limited polka dots and a little solid i got. maybe another trip to my local fabric store may help... but i'm in doubt. sigh... they takes monthS to stock in new stuff :[

while i'm still pondering at my baby quilt, my ma asked for two big totes!! :) yay! right up my alley! lol! at least, i can sew something right away without cracking my head too much. something 'not so cute' she highlighted. lol! well, i got one finished with my favourite and the only plaid i've got. the french japanese print is just so lovely on its own! i hope she wouldn't find it too cute?!

i'd start working on the second tote with ikea's pernilla fabric :) i got 2 metres and when i spreaded it on the floor, ashley's ooh~ and quickly lay on it :) so cute!

mixture of feelings when EQ badly defeated

wow! it has been zero posting for 2 weeks here :) well, you can't blame me for being MIA. it's *SPRING*! spring is wonderful with the right weather.. fresh air... flowers blooming.. and it always ring with spring cleaning! and i even saw people are having spring-break in their blogs. everyone is experiencing some spring-ness on their own! :) which is so nice if you have spring in your region. *and we never have spring here. ok. you can blame me for MIA then.* lol! infact, our tropical climate is so unpredictable and don't ask me when is our monsoon season because i can't tell anymore , places are getting drier and places are getting flash flood unexpectedly :/ . ok let's get back to the main reason of me being MIA. i was so anticipated! you see, spring is a good time too for re-organizing, moving or removing or even re-stoking! i was so delighted when i came upon some of the most fabulous fabric shop online re-organizing their stock by having spring sale! whoohoo~ for me, who will never care about 'spring cleaning', has jumped into 'spring re-stoking' turbo mode!

first, was the good-ness shop which was a sad news at first knowing it will be closed. and so begun the ever tempting session with my heart beating so crazy when she started with 20% off and then the free fabric, next the 40% off and lastly the closing sale of 50% off. gosh! it was like standing next to a roller coaster ride waiting the right time to hop in! i was so crazy like that. what?! i was so hungry for fabrics! lol! it's been so long i didn't buy any. please excuse my insane-ness :} so, you must be guessing i must have made a whoopee BIG purchased at the end? nope. well, i can't act when $ don't coordinate :/ (i just afford to grab 2)

and so the regretful mood kick in seeing one after one gorgeous fabric being snapped up :{ but i was enjoying the show. people were buying so fast! lol. it's a great bargain really.

despair no more when bee square started her moving sale! oh gosh again! what should i do?! 35% off certainly makes my legs wobbly.

i couldn't think logically any more eventhough existing $ (not equal) to spending $. these fabrics were in my wanting list for so long!! i must bring them home. this time. i'm so happy ! that i did :)

my journey hadn't stop yet. not when the unexpected spring sale from sonatine came along right after my splurged. gosh x100 times! i was still floating up in the air! my senses haven't come back united yet. i couldn't be halted. i was going full gear, i was in frenzy filling up my cart with loads of beautiful fabrics! i'm so happy !! again :)

these 2 were a big missed last time when they were such a hit and i saw them all over the blogland. i got them now finally and whoa~ they were really so cute.

fabrics parcel like this really made my day :) and i'm sure it doesn't come often. i'm sure it won't happen again. after my husband show me the not so beautiful statement of the credit card bill :(

no more lost & crooked needles~

first of all i would like to say thanks for all your lovely comments about my first trial quilt patch. it's definitely worth all the pain! :) so while i am still waiting for a good thimble, i make something that is equally fun!

i like to make pincushion or needlebook for others or in swaps. they are so versatile to make and i've so much fun with the pic/pattern on them. but i've never have thoughts to make one for myself to use. i'd use a fabric scrap to pin in my needles together with the leftover floss in a metal box and that's very messy! i always lost count of my needles because sometimes they would drop out into the sea of floss and i will pricked my fingers looking for them. and the worst part is, when i was in a hurry to pack everything up, i would quickly cramped the floss together with the scrap and shut the metal cover of the box and *clack*! i'd clamped in the needle too and they crooked :/

so until recently, when i'd started to have more specialised needles like quilting & applique & more long pins.... i think i got to have a more decent place for them. a needlebook would be a good idea :) so i'd made one!! with a wee smiley cloud cushion too :>

it was made from muslin and batting and i'd inserted a cardboard in the front so the needles would not be easily stick out through the layers. size: 9cm x 6.5cm .

... the fun part is the bias binding!! the result is so satisfying! lol. :) & i'd chosed one of my ambassador girls for the cover because i still missing them! lol. ;}

the tree button was from a swap. i think it look quite cute adding it here. and the cloud.. ashley said it look like a fish in the sky :'

at first, i planned to use a sew-on snap for the closure but i think a cute button would be quite nice. but this button is definitely not cute at all!!! lol. i tried to match with the colors too and i only have this that's red :(

hoorah for next week coz i'll be going back to my hometown visiting my family with ashley for two weeks!! :) and totally no internet connection :( lol! anyway, would enjoy the break and catch up with you all again when i'm back!

getting into~

i'm all ready for the embroidered buttons swap hosted by jess !! and i'd already fnished 50% of them. i'm pretty excited about this because this is going to be my first swap via blogs. but i'm not so confident about my chosen embroidery pattern! i've spent a whole night drawing so many possible pictures and listed a long list of theme like circus, zoo, sewing, fairy-tales, etc... but all of them have one in common : childish!

gosh!~ that's why i love but don't like - to draw, whatever i'd draw, it always come out in a 2-D form of cartoon like object :? and i think my childish head just have input of those images coz i couldn't crack out one single form of artistic picture! except if i do florals but i'm not so fond of doing that. not that i don't like my final decision of the embroidery pictures. in fact, i like them alot! :) ... just that i'm afraid they couldn't pass the standard. anyhow, will do my best & enjoy the fun!

got this from ebay! so lovely!! :)

it's fabric time!

gosh! this fabric is so adorable! each square is measured 2.5" x 2.5" . i've got this from ebay. i think it's from michael miller. it was sold by panel and each panel consist of 8 squares. i guess my calculations was quickly deceived by my visualized because i'd bought 10 panels, and i was 'wow! 10 panels. that's alot!' but it's merely less than 1metre :< . i only realised this when i've got it in the mail today. silly me!

...and i wish they would be more careful when cutting out the panels, coz most of the sides are out from the panel line (i don't know how to describe it, please refer to the pic below) . i think i would have more seam allowances if i have the proper green outline. but anyway, this is just so cute!! :)

above is another fabric i bought in a store here. actually, i already got this and it's already smocked waiting to sew into dress. but the more i look at it, the more i like it. so i went to buy another 2 yards! :)

guess my self hypnotized wasn't work out. in fact, it's totally failed in controlling the urges of owning this awesome collection. BUT, the strong desire of buying is always fallout dead by the thickness of my wallet :[ so, i'd searched over ebay and found this charm pack of 40s 5" of the whole collection! yeah!! there are so charming, so perfect for 1 small quilt size for ashley! :)

look at these! all from reprodepot . i'm still mending my wallet's hole, and now they showing these to me!!?? :? just too much! oh my oh my.... calm down.. calm d o w n...

so sweet so soft!

it is so hard to find a store that carry a good series of quality fabrics in my town and i'm so lucky to find one but the quantity is so scarce. yesterday, they stock up some new arrivals and i just gotto snatched these. the fabrics are so cute and i like the colors too.

my order from reprodepot has arrived! i'm so happy just looking at these fabrics. and my favourite is this little pirates! all of them are just in 1 yard :{ due to my limited budget on spending online. the other two above would be nice to use to make a little quilt . QUILT?? haha i hope i can start to make one now but not so soon because i still have lots of smocking pattern to make. no so lots but i'm working on two dresses for my little nieces. actually i already smocked two long time ago, but i don't like the fabric and the pattern after i finished them, so they are left unattended. and a purple fairy dress would be after that! i couldn't wait to start on that! :)

gold coins!

whenever i drop by at one of my favorite shop, i always find something new to buy even though that was the 3rd times i've been there in a week? :) there are always something i'd missed out. and these buttons looked like gold coins to me! lol. i was so surprised to see them in the buttons drawers amongst the others which i'd rummaged countless times! there's just a few left when i bought these and after i went home, i kept thinking of going back to get the rest!
